Suppository Help... and why I don't like Doctors

So Tyler has been fussy for about a week.  We called the Dr because his abdomen looked distended and he wasn't pooping as much.  They said his GI tract may be changing and it may be normal.  They said watch for rabbit like poop or play doh consistency poop.  Even then, they would just recommend a glycerin suppository.  So, today he had the play doh poop.  DF went out and got the suppository.  I put it in, and diapered him up.  he pooped right away, but i looked and he pooped the suppository right out.  So, I tried again and he pooped it out right away again.  How do I keep it in? When he poops it out, poop also comes out. So I guess thats good.... But his abdomen is definitely still distended and slightly rigid.

ps He has been eating fine!!

Hey, my sons name is Tyler too! :D Anywho, try using the liquid stuff instead of  the suppositories. All you do is squirt it up there and with in a few minutes (takes my son like 2 if even) they will poop. It works faster and imo I think it's more comfortable than having a suppository sitting up there. How old is he? My son used to have issues w/ constipation and we found out he a had a milk protein allergy and would have blood in his stool regularly.

I have had to use suppositories on my son too. He had to get them while he was still in the hospital. The suppository doesn't have to stay in there to work. If he poops, it has done it's job.

My 18 month old son Tristan has had a problem with constipation alot.  The problem with glycerin supp. is they can become dependant on them.  My ped. informed me that miralax is approved for children and they won't become dependant on it.  Check with your ped. about if this would be an appropriate thing for your sons age.  Good luck!
