My son was born at 34 weeks, 4 lbs & 7 oz and he was in the NICU for 9 days. He had jaundice and was a slow eater so they had a tube in his nose for a few days. Other than that he was a very healthy boy. I breastfeed and he spits up quite often and while I am breastfeeding his tummy girgles most of the time (almost like he is hungry) but he is getting plenty ( he now weighs 9 lbs & 4 oz). I bought over the counter gas drops and give them to him as needed but he still grunts and cries. We just had his 2 month old dr appt and the pediatrician prescribed Zantac for his issues. I was not thrilled about it but she said it will help with his congestion, reflux, and gas. SO far it has not helped....it has only been 2 days since I have given him Zantac. Does anyone have any experience with Zantac and if so how long does it take to help? What other remedies can I do to help him? This is my first child and a preemie at that :)
Thank you...Heather
Thank you. I asked my doctor about gripe water and she did not know much about it, I bought it and I am going to try it. The gas drops nor the Zantac are working.
