I am collecting stories and all the information I can. I am working on a novel, one that has been in the works for a while now. I use real life events in my work, this time taking the premature birth of my best friends twins as my muse. I don't want to strictly use her story though.
The character is Sarah Beth who is just 15 when she discovers she is pregnant with twins. After having to deliver via emergency c section due to preeclampsia (can use a little help here too if you experienced it). The boy/girl twins are born at 29 wks (though I can change this is earlier or later).
What I need from you (if you are willing) is how you felt during the NICU time. My 4 yr old was in the NICU but for less than a day after my emergency cesarean, but I never stepped foot in the NICU.
I need emotions, the raw ones. The true deep down feelings.
What happens in a NICU?
I will consult other sites for information on machines and monitors, but if you have information about all the help your baby received I would be happy to read about it.
Tell me everything you would want to read about. I know I hate reading a fictional book and a child who has Autism is displayed as a cold unloving child. I don't want to write like that. I want believable and true, not something I just think happens.
If you think I am a crazy woman then ignore this, but if you want to help I really appreciate it.
This is probably a good post for you to look at...
