Hi group,

I have a question for those of you currently working from home. Do you use Quickbooks or another type of software to stay organized and keep track of clients, billing, income tax information, ect? I am trying to start the year off right and stay organized at the same time. I have also been working from home for several years, but have a hard time keeping it all organized. This year, I am hoping to do more than one WAH job, but for tax filing purposes and clients, I need something that is easy and works. Can someone offer suggestions as to what the latest up to date software is? I am not into smart phones and tablets. I would much rather keep my information on my computer or even my laptop, as I may be traveling occasionally for work. Any and all suggestions will be considered.

Thanks,

Lisa

Thanks for replying Osikani. I might try that as well. The only thing that worries me is if the CD or hard drive gets lost, stolen, or the wrong person gets it. Then all of my personal info would be on it. Still...I guess that is what passwords are for, right?

I sell online via an auction site and also take customer service calls online. So, I don't need the Quickbooks 'bells & whistles'. I just keep an excel spreadsheet for each business that details my expenses and my sales.

Lisa:

I am a Tax Consultant and Quickbooks Pro is a very good program but it is date sensitive.  You really do not have to have a Financial Statement just a profit and loss statement.  I currently use a Peachtree program which is great for a full Financial Statement.  Just remember, having a home business gives so many deductions that most people do not know about.  Did you know you can take off your home office, mileage, supplies, etc.

Just pick a program that you can list income and expenses on and you will be fine.  Should you have additional questions, please feel free to email me.
