my son just had his 2nd bday (XD gettin so big) last friday and i have been working on potty training gettin no where, i was just wondering when everyone else started potty trainiing and how long it took
adrian just turned 2 last month and were going to start tomorrow. underwear.
we used the 3 day pt method...underwear only for 3 days..lots of fulids and a watchful eye. accidents will happen but on day 2 they want to please you and continue and at the end of day 3 it clicks and they never need diapers again...personally I bought those pee proof mats for his mattrace & I did use vinyl panys over underwear if i had to go to the store because i have a baby too and cant just run to the bathroom to clean up a huge mess if he had an accident w/ lil brother on my hip. and i did buy a pack of "good nights boxers" and they were used when he was ill and i didnt want to have to change his bed sheets a ton but hes 3 now and i still have the bag in the drawer
I will start my 12 month old in 6 months because his brother had the jist but still hid to poop at that age...Ry my oldest was trained fully at 27 months and we have had 3 accidents total!
i actually started when she was two but i started to prepare her when she was 21mths...i was letting her that dirtying the pampers is disgusting, i started to take her to bathroom with me the times that i went so she knows that big girls use the toilet and not diapers. i showed her how much her #2 stunk and how her pipi stunk...the main thing is to prepare them mentally so when it comes down to it shes not scare and is nothing new to her...she needs to feel confident and secure and not alone!!!!oooo....tell her (somebody that she knows but doesnt see that often) that they use the bathroom and nnot diapers so she feels the need to copy!!! it works!!! well for me anyways, i potty trained my daughter in a wk for pipi and for # 2 it took me a wk and half!!!!!!!!!
good luck!
I don't think age is as important as a child's willingness and readiness to potty train. Becka showed very little interest until she was 2, and then she just thought it was cool and would try randomly. At 26 months she decided she was done with diapers. I did pull ups for a little bit, but mostly underwear. She would have some accidents, and regressed a bit after a trip we took, but otherwise she's been pretty good about it. It was easy and really cool. We never forced it on her, we just let her lead the way. I am hoping Taegen is as easy haha!
WITH MY SON HE WAS ALMOST 3 BY THE TIME HE WAS FULLY POTTY TRAINED BUT HE STARTED AT 15MTHS HE WAS THEN HE REGRESSED THEN WE STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN HE'S ALMOST 6 & STILL WETS THE BED AT NIGHT
MY DAUGHTER WHOM TURNS 3 IN MAY POTTY LEARNED ALMOST A YEAR AGO SHE STARTED BY JUST NOT WETTING AT NIGHT SO DIAPERS WERE DRY THEN FINALLY HER DAD COULDN'T AFFORD DIAPERS ANYMORE (SHEHAD TO HAVE THE ALL NATURAL ONES OR SHE'D BREAK OUT) SO HE SAID IT'S POTTY TIME & I WAS DOING UNDERWEAR/PULLUPS AT MY HOUSE AS WELL IT TOOK HER A FEW WEEKS BUT SHE'S REALLY GOOD NOW SHE IS ACTUALLY JUST BEING OK USING A NON POTTY CHAIR TOILET
i started my first 2 boys at that age..... it took a year or longer(one still has trouble sometimes) my dd was much faster completely trained by two and ds#3 trained himself also completely by 2. The best advice i can give you.... let them do it at their own pace
oh and by the way bare bottom worked best for us
I just used the 3 days or less method with my son this week and he has had 1 accidents as of yesterday, the 1st day he had 4 and the day after he had 2 1/2 we made it to the potty the last 1/2..lol...he will be 3 on the 28th so i gave up and got undies for him and started trying, told him we we're out of pull-ups and that worked...i started at 2 when i got pull--ups but to me those never helped my boys until i got them undies then they wanted to start potty training idk my boys are weird lol!
my daughter goes pee and poop as she pleases, she's not ready to be fully potty trained. she turned two in dec and has been using the potty at least once a day (usually) since sept probly.. she's not all that interested in it. i'm waiting til im done in school in may and then maybe ill really get her on there
