So I am applying for a job in Charlotte, NC and I think I have a strong chance of getting it, but it means that we will have to move from MD to NC.  Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for affordable but nice/safe neighborhoods either in Charlotte or very close to Charlotte?

THANKS!!

What do you consider affordable and how many rooms? My SO's mom used to live in some pretty rad apts up there...

Well based on some quick searching online, it looks like we should be able to find a decent 3 bedroom house or apt for under $800 a month, so I would say that I don't want to go above $800 if I don't have to.  But obviously being a safe clean neighborhood is important.

Outside of charlotte is cheaper.  $800 sounds like not a good area.

Do you live there now?  Any suggested cities outside of Charlotte?

Concord is not too far from Charlotte.  Charlotte is really nice, but has really bad areas.  My aunts friend rents a studio for $1000, when she checked out the 2 bedroom apt it was $1400.

there are apartments anywhere from $480-$1300 a month. I'm about to move up that way myself, and have looked. Use Apartmentfinder.com, I know nothing of the area's, but the places have to pay for their advertisement so they should all be nice places.
