Where is the best place to donate gently used books?

I have a huge laundry basket full of gently used books that I want to donate somewhere. I know I could take them to GoodWill but if there's somewhere else that could use books I'd rather take them there.

My kids read so much and we get so many books we're running out of room.

Does your local library take donations? Or a used book store?

I take mine to the bookstore and get credit towards my next purchase. Then if she can't sell them, she donates them to the school

Do you have a Half Price Bookstore? They would probably take them, and even maybe pay you a little cash.

I wouldnt do half price books. I gave them three huge reusable sacks full of books and I got 12 bucks. If it wasn't do hard to lug them all back to the car (most were hardback books) I'd have just taken them back.

I'd look at the library or a reading center. Or even a school depending on the books.

We don't have one. The closest place like that is about an hour away.
