I say NO... We have a patient who is 5 and ALWAYS comes in with a pacifier in her mouth. She is a smart girl and also very disrespectful and the mom is just as disrespectful. Our waiting room looks like a tornado hit it everytime they come AND mom is always loud threatening her kids and acting like a mad woman. Bleep this and bleep that. I assume mom has no patience and doesn't want to deal with her daughter, hence the pacifier? Not sure. I can only assume! What do you think?

2 moms liked this
I wouldn't do it, but it sounds like the pacifier is the least of their issues.

I kicked the paci out of DS's mouth at 18 months and I thought that was too long! dd didn't take it and I was happy about it! lol I think 3 is too old for it too, once a kids is 2 it should be gone IMO

My son had his until 2 but only for nap and bedtime and then on his second birthday we took them to the store and "traded" them for a toy.
Another annoyance for me is bottles. I hate seeing 5 year olds drink from bottles.

A 5 year old should not be sucking on a pacifier. That can lead to major dental problems. I weaned my son off his paci at 6 months and bottle at 8 months.
