Last year, 3rd grade, because he wouldn't stay seated. Substitute teacher. He was diagnosed with adhd this year but has struggled for years. I just found out About this and am FURIOUS!

What should I do? What should the end result be?

*I emailed the principal around 10:30am. He emailed me back saying that he would call me about it but he never did. he called my son into the office but only spoke with him for a few minutes. he said he would have the teacher apologize to my son. and that was it. still haven't gotten a phone call should I call him?? I'm surprised he's not as concerned as I am with this situation. I am so frustrated!

Ummm well first I suggest finding some thing that calms you before you do anything cause my first response would be to go burn down her house!

Second call the super intendant. Just go straight up don't start at the source don't start at the school start as high up as possible. This is abuse! End result she never teaches again you get a MASSIVE apology and to out the women. If super intendent doesn't want to do anything you call the local news papers and news stations ASAP.

You might also want to call a lawyer and find out if its legal to give her name out to news stations and such. Lawyer wouldn't hurt in this situation. I'm not one for sueing but never hurts to go about things legally to cover your own ass.

Do you know which sub it was? Might be hard to figure out but I bet the school can figure it out! I agree with rosemagic I would go to the supertiendent and go from there!

Okay first of all, no one ties my child to anything!
Second, I'd find out what my child was doing so bad to have to be tied? To a chair? I'm sorry but I wouldn't tie my own kid to a chair and as a teacher has no right at all to disapline your child in any way shape or form.
I'd report it to the board of education. The only thing she had to do was send him to the office and have the principle or whoever call you directly to deal with it. Not take matters into her own hands and tie a student to their chair!

Holy shit. The more I read about kids going to school and the horrors they endure the more I wanna homeschool. Too bad I'm not smart enough :-/

Hmm...this happened to me in 3rd grade as well. This teacher was nuts. He threw chalk at kids. Even threw a trash can at one. (Thankfully it didn't hit the kid) He taped my legs to the legs of the desk because I was always tipping my chair back. He even made me sit through lunch taped to my desk. I didn't even get to eat. You need to talk to the principle and if they don't do anything talk to the board. With the help of my mom's professor at the time we got my 3rd grade teacher fired.

They've actually shown (in studies) that the education level of the parent has no effect on the child's outcome with homeschooling. Most of the packaged curriculum is very easy to follow, you mostly just have to lead the lesson with all the prompts they give you. It can be extremely simple.

Not trying to convert you, but if it's something you're interested in, I would look into it some more. The curriculum we're starting this fall is almost all written so most of it is reading the books together.

My sister had a teacher in elementary school who ALWAYS singled her out. Berated her in class and always talked real nasty to her. She came home one day and told my mom what was happening and that the teacher always smelled funny. When my mom confronted her she REEKED of booze, and when the school admin got involved, they found a flask in her desk. I don't understand why some people with no patience decide to work with CHILDREN all day. Stupid IMO.
