They released my information!? Really?

I just received a letter from the hospital I had my DS 7wks ago that they "accidently" released my information & they're not quite sure who has obtained my information. Like my social security number, birth date, everything!...  I'm calling first thing in the morning...

that's a huge HIPPA violation and a huge amount of money for you.

I'm.not sue happy, but that's a huge case against them :(

Oh my! Thats got to suck. I hope you get that figured out soon and I hope the hospital has to pay for any out of pocket cost you have because of this. Thats not cool. Wish you luck with all this!

Something similar happened to me last year. I filed a HIPAA violation report with HHS.

Also you should contact the 3 major credit unions and place a fraud alert on your name/SSN. It puts extra safeguards in place in case someone tries to use your SSN to obtain credit.
