I can't believe that you all have to pay to give birth! I was shocked when I found out!
I'm curious how much you actually have to pay?

I paid 2800 but I had a homebirth with a midwife. That was for all services. Prenatal, birth, and postnatal.

I don't know how much it was. It was mostly taken care of by the insurance I had. I had a csection though.
It takes a doctors time to have visits and hospital money to keep you there and all the stuff they use and the time it takes to have a baby. While I feel its over priced I also feel doctors should get paid for their time its their job.

When I had #2 it was 5,800 dollars. We lost our health insurance when dh lost his job 2 months before dd was born. That was the amount for the hospital stay, birth and doc fee. It took me 3 yrs to pay that off.
With Liam's birth it's about 3,000 so far ( not all the bills are in). But we have insurance now that covers most of it.
