debate/question Should welfare recipients have to be drug tested?

I believe they should, I had to be drug tested for my job I start next week so shouldn't someone have to be tested to receive free money?

I am so tired of seeing mom's sit and talk about how "blown" they are! During the day, when they're a single parent! Please tell me how if they truly need the help, why are they spending money on drugs? and who the heck is taking care of their child all day when they're so "blown". To me, it makes sense to just take that money out of their first amount of money they would be receiving and if they don't pass that is a lot less money spent out of the governments pocket than the the thousands they give each year to one recipient.

I feel so strongly about this because this mother I know makes excuse after excuse of why she can't work! She says daycare is too much, well the state will help with that! I know because they're going to help me out this summer. She just sits on facebook nearly all day and it drives me nuts!

Ive worked at a detox center... People can pass a first test but its the continuous testing that counts as well. I think people on PA should... I dont know a ton about PA but usually are there guidelines for how long you can be on it? Shouldnt these people be helped and kinda given a deadline to become self sufficient? Random tangent...

In theory, yes. In practice, it wouldn't be that simple.

I think people should be drug tested if they receive welfare.

A major issue with it is the cost of drug testing.

Yea and I think they should be randomly tested after the first initial test as well. If they arnt hiding anything then why should it matter.

I hate the general opinion here that everyone on welfare does drugs. So judgemental. "Well I knew one person who did!" Guess everyone does then. I know a person who does drugs and works full time because they done randomly drug test. So I guess everyone with a job who doesnt randomly test must do drugs too.

How many "should people on welfare be drug tested?" posts are going to be made? I swear there is a new one every day!! Imo, everyone should worry about themselves and not what other people are doing!!
