Bed Bugs???

So we recently stayed out of town and my two year old woke up with a few bites. At the time I really didn't think much of it but now that we are home she has a few more and I have 2. I'm wondering if this could be bed bugs and now we've brought them home. Anyone have any experience with this? How did you find them? I've checked all the mattresses and have found nothing.

I used to work in a nursing home...bed bugs are also known as scabies and are very contagious...u need to vacuum everything rugs, mattresses couches and keep an eye on ur bites because if it's scabies and not just normal bed bugs then they are under ur skin and u need to get a prescription from ur doctor to get rid of them

Check along the seams of the mattress, especially at the head of the bed, and in couches/chairs, anything opholstered. Look for not just bugs, but their feces. If you don't find anything, then it's likely not bedbugs. Are you sure they're not mosquito bites?

2 moms liked this

Scabies is a mite that burows under your skin while bed bugs are, well, actual bugs which are tiny but can be seen scurrying around.  They are both irritating and you should check the mattress and along the floorboards, headboard, etc. if you suspect bed bugs.  They more commonly come out at night but sometimes can be seen during the day.  Either problem needs immediate attention.  Ask your doctor to check for the scabies and there is undoubtedly something you can get for scabies.  They are extremely contagious and you can start by washing everything you possibly can including toys and stuffed animals and vacuming everywhere.  My daughter the entymologist suggested putting everything you can into the freezer if you cannot wash it.  Good luck!

I agree! We got bed bugs in our old apt and found them along the seam of our bed. Our case got so bad that they had to move us into a new apt. Good luck!

It depends on what the bites look like, as well.  Bedbugs tend to be fire-engine red, and clustered in specific areas.  If it's an isolated bite here or there, it may be from mosquitos or some other bug.

A friend of mine just started working for a furniture company, and he told me what they have to check for during deliveries. Thank goodness, I've never personally dealt with them! (Knock on wood, lol.)

I don't think they are scabies because there is no bug in the bites. They are just flat pink marks on me and my daughter and she also has 5 tiny white bumps in a line too. She's dark skinned if that matters

I did, didn't find anything. Maybe I'm freaking out over nothing. We just moved to NY and I know it was a big problem here so I'm probably just letting my imagination get the best of me.

I know, bugs creep me out so I'm praying it's not.
