Gyno, possible endometriosis help? *a little long*
The last two OB/GYNs I saw never believed me about my pain and other problems with my periods and said it was just because I was young, find the right BC and it will go away, etc. I've had severe pain since the first couple of years I had my period in my early teens, painful sex, painful paps, heavy bleeding, and so on. Basically all the signs of endo, plus a family history. For the past few years, I saw a nurse practitioner and she has been urging me to get checked because she thinks that's what's causing my problems, and she was the only one who really listened to me, but she couldn't do anything to diagnose.
Next month I go to a new gyno and I'm trying to figure out how I can convince her that what I'm experiencing is not normal cramping. As far as I know, being in so much pain you regularly pass out, or can't move for days, isn't normal. I went through labor drug free no problem, but my periods are much, much worse than labor.
I've been putting together a family history, making notes of all my symptoms, what's made it worse, what helps, what I've tried to ease the pain, etc., but I'm worried it's still not going to be enough and just like the others she'll brush it off.
Any advice? Has anyone else gone through this?
Hi! I have endo and gave my gyno my family history - mother, aunt, maternal grandmother - and explained all of my symptoms and the severity of them, adding that it was affecting my life because I couldn't have sex or exercise or just LIVE without dealing with pain, major blood flow during my periods, etc. He checked and agreed that was one of my issues and started treatment.
I have endometriosis. My mother, all my aunts and my grandmother have it. She believes her mom had it as well.
