i was thinking about doing a little daycare starting next month when my 5 yo goes to school. (i also have a 2 yo who will be home with me still) and i was gonna charge $200/week. well, i have someone interested, but only tuesdays and fridays and days her husband gets called in to work. which i think would be a great way to start into daycare. getting a 5 month old little girl 2 days a week for approx 8 hours, and having the other 3 days of the week just me and my little guy alone. perfect for me!!!

so, if i was going to do $200/ week, that goes to $40/day. so is it too much do to $40/day for her, and get the $80/week?

if its too much, what should i charge?

If I was getting charged $200 a week I would take them to a daycare. When I had a babysitter for DD#1 she charged me by day $15...n the new baby sitter charges me $20 but I have 2 DDs now n I dont work she just watches them if I want to go out with DH. I think 15-20 $ a day is reasonable

Ya that's crazy high for most places. Where do you live?

Where I take my daughter non-contract parents pay $5 an hour and contract parents pay $180 a week for a 50 hour week...but where my daughter goes to preschool they also have a daycare side (it's registered with the state and everything but so is the other one) and she charges per semester and it's typically $4,500 per semester

I'd do that in a heartbeat!! A 5 month old in my town would be almost $400 a week in an actual daycare.

I'm in Iowa. I'm looking for opinions on what I should charge. I sure hope nobody reams me for this! I'm new so just looking for advice:)

I have my two boys, and also 2 younger siblings I helped with. I watched my niece and nephew all the time before they moved and my mom did daycare my while child hood so I helped with those 3 kids as well. So I'm not new to watching kids but new to what I should charge.

Ive been a sahm for 5 1/2 yrs and have never had to pay a sitter so idk what the going rate is lol

That pretty high here if you're not certified.

A good way to see what the rates in your area are , is to call about 10 different child care centers. Ask what the price per week for each age group is. You dint have to tell them your starting your own just tell them your pricing out for your family if they even ask at all.

I worked st a development center for years so our prices were typically higher since we used curriculum programs but every year when budgeting for the next year was being laid out we called a couple centers in our area to make sure what was being charged was not to high .

In Colorado that's a great deal! That's about what I was paying for someone not certified. Here far part time with someone certified its about $200 per kid

It is actually not that high IF you are providing everything but the diapers. That is what it runs where I live.

I babysat a little girl for a while, just on Saturdays for 10-12 hours. She was paying me $20 for that day. She got a raise and started paying me $30.
