No I don't. My mom's husband puts his salt on everything, including his fruit.
Wait I take that back, I do it when I do this
I know what you're thinking, and no this isn't going to be like a vodka melon, or at least not exactly like a vodka melon. It's much much easier. And take it from someone who has had one too many vodka melon failures in her life, this one is easy.
What You Need
☼ 1 Watermelon — size is really your choice. Just make sure it's ripe. You can tell if a melon is ripe if it feels heavy. It also shouldn't be green all the way around. It should have a white or creamy colored circle from where it has been sitting on the ground ripening, but this spot should NOT be yellow. Thanks for the tips mom!
☼ Simple syrup. Really use as much as you want. It's equal parts sugar and water, so depending on how much watermelon you're looking to make, it's your call. All you do for this is heat water and sugar together over low heat until all the sugar dissolves.
☼ 1/2 cup of tequila. This is a minimum. It depends how drunk you want to get. Me personally, I love the taste of tequila and I also enjoy getting drunk so...
☼ 1/4 cup triple sec. Use as much or as little as you want. Depends on how much you like the taste.
☼ A couple limes
☼ Slice the watermelon into nice wedges, leaving the rind on.
☼ Allow simple syrup to cool slightly and add in the alcohol. If you add alcohol too soon it will burn off. Where's the fun in that?
☼ Allow the watermelon to soak in tequila mixture for at least an hour in the fridge.
☼ Take out and squeeze lime juice over the wedges and sprinkle with salt.
