So last night i emailed the principle and she responded that same night. I couldn't call because by the time he got home, everyone was gone. She was very apologetic and said that was absolutely unacceptable and not how she wants him to remember his first day of school, and that she would talk to juan in the am and talk to the lunch ladies and remind them of the age group and as far as grabbing him she said the lady in question would be delt with accordingly. I was not the only mom who called about this lady, she apparently yelled at quite a few kids. I did not tell her i was bringing him to school this morning. when i showed up she and him took a walk down to the cafeteria and he pointed the lady out (in private) to her, she did this because juan did not know what her name was and both ladies who were monitors had brown hair so that didn't help her. I told her i appreciate her handling it but if i ever get a report that ANYBODY in that school touches a hair on his head i would be in and will become a nightmare for them to deal with. (in nicer words) i also told her im not comfortable with how upset he was and how it was a fight to get him to go this morning, so i would be popping in throughout the next few weeks to make sure things stay on track and she had no issue with this. She did not say what would be done to this woman but when i asked juan how lunch went today, he said good the lady who was mean to him was not in the cafeteria and the lady who was, was very nice and helped him open his thermos and read him my note lol. this made his day.

he came home much happier today. I am pleased with how it was handled and how open and honest she was

Today was my sons first day of kindergarden. I packed his lunch because i knew he wouldnt eat what they were serving. Today when he got off of the bus he burst into tears, I asked him what was wrong he told me the lunch lady had very bad manors and was mean. i asked what was said, as i couldnt figure out the issue since he packed. here she made him throw out the heart shape note i left him, and grabbed his arm. my kid is not one to misbehave and he does have very good manors. he told me he likes his teachers but not lunch time and he doesnt want to go to lunch tomorrow. i dont know why he was grabbed by the arm but im not ok with it. if he needed corrected it should have been handled different. and i asked him if he spilt food on his note he said no, he asked her what it said and thats when she got mad, all as it said was We love you have a great day. i told him it wasnt a big deal and id write hima new one, but something else had to happen for him to be this upset

anybody ever have an expereince like this?

Go to the school but not for the reason of telling on the lunch lady. Go to the school tomorrow, check in at the front desk and tell them you would like to eat lunch with your son. Go to the cafeteria and WATCH from afar. Don't let your son or the lunch lady see you. See how she interacts with him and go from there. If you DON'T see it BUT it happens again in the future then go to the school and ask to speak to the principal.

Yes! I work for a company that works together with the schools for lunches and ive seen this before. Some of the lunch staff are difficult. I would go to the office and speak to the principle!

i would complain about her...when my son was in 1st grade he had no problem going to school until one day...he had a sub teacher and he came home telling me she was very mean, yelling hiting her hand on the desk etc....the next day and everyday till it was taken care of he would be crying (for some reason his teacher would be out 2-3days a week! so he had lots of subs) so when it got to the poin of me having to call the school to make shure it wasnt a sub and if it was who was it and the office staff say well he cant miss school because he is afraid of a sub....i went to the district office and complained!...and come to find out by my mom (who works at another school in the office) this lady had many complaints on her by different schools...well she no longer has a job..thank god! those poor kids!.....put your foot down mama!

What is it with lunch lady's? They are all mean. I work in a school and ours throws the plate at the children, yells at them, just all around hateful. She is even mean to the teachers. My thought is, you work with children, if you don't like them, find a new job!!

Poor baby! Yes, I would be going up to the school! That's ridiculous! The gremlin was probably just having a bad day and took it out on your sweet baby. Hope you get it resolved and let us know what happens!
