I applied for another job a couple weeks ago, and the personel manager told me it could be up to 2 weeks before they did any hiring. Well it has been 2 weeks, and I haven't heard anything. I did what you ladies told me to do yesterday, and I called today ( just a little bit ago actually ). GOT GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
The personel manager is on vacation this week, but the hiring HAS NOT started yet, and won't, until he gets back. The lady I spoke with got my name, and said that he HAS put my application on top, but she would write him a note, saying to keep it as close to the top as possible!!!!! The hiring should start next week, and I'm just hoping I get this job!!!!!!! It would be so much better for me. It's closer to home ( only a 20 minute drive versus an almost 1 hour drive to where I work now ), I wouldn't have to deal with idiot drunks, or pissed off lottery players. Plus alot of the people where I applied for are still good friends with me, versus only tolerating each other at the job I have now ( none of us can stand each other ).
I just don't know what to do with the job I have now, IF I get this new job.......
Alot of people have said to just up and quit, what with all the shit they have put me thru, and forcing me to choose my job over my daughter many times ( if I didn't they would have fired me, and as a single mom, that CAN NOT happen ). I just don't want to do that ( although a part of me does, cause I honestly think it would be funny to see their reaction to it ). I want to give at least a week notice, but if I do that, I run the risk of loosing the new job ( they only have a few spots open, and when filled, they must STAY filled, or you will be replaced. In other words, once you get this job, you either take it when they give it to you, or you don't. You won't be able to put in a 2 week notice at all. )
I don't know if I should go ahead and tell my manager now about the other job, or if that would affect the job I have now if I did. What would you ladies do if this was you?
sounds like you are maybe at a deli or something? but they should be used to people just leaving if that's how they treat employees. anyway, you have a right to better yourself. its maybe not the right thing to do, but honestly I'd quit immediately when i got my new job.

Look at this way, they have been making you choose your job, now you get to choose your daughter :) I would walk away and not feel the slightest bit guilty
