Maybe start with naps so he gets used to sleeping alone. I am not really sure, good luck!

I went through a big Co sleeping issue with DS so here's what his behavior specialist said

Put a gate up at his door and do normal pre bed time routine.(DS was sleeping with us til 2.5yrs til we did this)
kiss good night leave, they might freak out, its okay. Let them cry and go check in after 5 minutes. Keep interaction with them to a minimum tuck back in and get out. If they continue to cry check after 10 minutes(repeat tuck in) then check in 15 minutes. And stay at checking after 15 minutes if continuing to cry.

It took us 4 days, just 4 days!!! then he got the hint and now sleeps by himself! Its great! She said you just had to stick with it and not give in. Its rough for the first couple of days but in the long run its worth it.

This is what I did, my son was about 2.5 when we did this as well. It was so hard and honestly harder on me than him I think. I never let him CIO until then but I had to get him out of my bed. The trick is to just stay consistent. It took a few days, maybe 3-4 and he was fine. Just every time he came in I would have to walk him back and put him back in bed.

Yup it's true consistent is the key.

Lol that's why I used a gate, because he sneaks into our bed and I wouldn't even know!

never let her sleep in my bed. sorry here is a bump :)

Idid let ehr sleep in my room until she was 6 months old. then I moved her to her room. It took 2 weeks of patince, but she got the hang of it. just me paaatient.. put your kid in bed. read a story, then it simple, time for bed, kiss tuck, and off you go. he will complain at first but be firm, and DONT ignore him. iff he calls for you, go, but tell him firmly, its time for bed.

good luck!

Mine never did.  We don't co-sleep.
