Teachers with handguns in TX (yay/nay)

I'm not sure why all of these petitions are going around. I find it so ridiculous.

I would trust a teacher to teach my kid but not have a gun around my kid. Teachers are not the exception to crazy.

What do you think?

Agreed, good wording. It makes you think about armed security guards at school as well actually. But then how DO we keep our kids safe with no armed staff?

i think there should be armed TRAINED staff... it sucks that this is what the world is coming to, but apparently this is what the world is coming to.

Nay. I hate to say it, but the teachers that I've been around (for the most part) I would not trust with a gun.

I do think having armed security in schools isn't a bad idea, though.

I don't trust anyone with a gun... any human being can snap.

I think there is actually a district in Texas where they already have armed teachers. Let me see if I can find the info...

ETA - yep. The school board decided to let teachers with existing concealed carry permits carry concealed on campuses back in 2008.

They have been doing it since oct 2008. I think its great.
governor perry wants to make it so anyone with a CHL can carry anywhere in the state.

I actually agree with that. Most mass shootings happen in gun free zones so there is no one around to legally defend themselves.
