Weight Gain during pregnancy??

Ok, my doctor says my baby is 2 weeks bigger than what he should be (measuring 20 weeks instead of 18 lol). My pre-pregnancy weight was 210, and when I went to the doctor Thursday I was 209 after eating breakfast and lunch...

He says I should have gained 10-15 lbs by now, but I haven't gained any and I haven't had any morning sickness. I told him that I don't drink sodas or eat "crappy" food anymore, but he still says I need to gain some weight (even though my baby is healthy and bigger than he should be)..

How much weight has anyone gained by now? I'm 18 weeks pregnant tomorrow.

Hmmm. How much weight does he want you to put on? I didn't start gaining with my youngest until I was about 20 weeks. My midwife wasn't concerned since I wasn't underweight to begin with.

I wouldn't worry as long as baby is growing fine

I gained forty pounds during my first pregnancy, but I was low weight to begin with. I needed to gain the weight. Gaining weight is not always necessary, it depends on what you eat and your daily routine. I gained a lot less with my second because I started out at a health weight. I also didn't gain more than a few pounds until well into my second trimester. You know your baby is growing and getting enough.

Your baby is growing, so it sounds like he/she is getting the nutrients that he/she needs while you're losing excess fat. That's awesome! I can't believe that your doctor is concerned about that if the baby is clearly growing. I gained a total of 27 lbs, but I was a healthy weight beforehand and didn't gain any excess weight, so it was lost immediately after giving birth. I had a friend who was overweight, lost 15 lbs during pregnancy, gave birth to a healthy 8 lb baby, and was 40 lbs lighter after the birth than she was pre-pregnancy.

I am 31 weeks along and I have only gained 5lbs...( pre preganancy my weight was about the same as yours). At first the Dr's were concerned.... sent me to a specialist... they did blood tests... a couple more ultrasounds... the baby was growing fine... and I was eating.. at least 3 meals a day... I was instructed to add a protien shake a day and to eat things like peanut butter and trail mix and stuff like that... sometimes I don't eat snacks cuz Im really not hungry for them... but I do drink 64ozs of water a day plus juice and whatnot... its frustrating!! My baby is growing fine tho so I am not that worried... with my first I gained 60lbs... and with my second I gained 23lbs... Im not sure why I havent gained really anything during this pregnancy!! If your Dr becomes too concerned I am sure he will send you to see a specialist or give you a special diet... I even had two more glucose tests... not because my sugar was high but they were almost convinced I had gestinal diabetes because my Dad has diabetes.... I don't... my blood sugar is completely normal. *shrug* At least I wont have much to lose once I have her!!! Good luck momma!

You may have lost from dropping the junk food. Just eat when you are hungry and keep eating healthy. Im sure if baby is growing everything is okay. I am up 6 lbs and JUST 15 weeks.

I gained a net total of 23 lbs with my son... This time, I lost 10 lbs in my first trimester, even though I need to gain as much as 30, and have only gained a few back (I am 9 weeks, so much earlier than you). I wouldn't worry about it... In fact, I'm not sure why he would want you to gain 15 lbs by the first 18 weeks! That means he wants you to gain 30 or more lbs total... It depends on your BMI how much you need to gain... But it sounds like if baby is healthy, you're doing things right. I wouldn't concern yourself with it.
