I'm not asking anyone to diagnose my child with it on CM. I'm just simply looking for moms who have a child that has been diagnosed and can answer a few questions I have about the steps to being diagnosed.

There's a group for those, they'd probably be tons of help! My brother was diagnosed with ADHD when he was 5, but I don't know specifics.

My 8 yo dd is adhd with a host of other things and I'm working on getting my 5yo dh diagnosed. I'm went through the therapist and working with his teachers and Dunne other people at the school. They ask a bunch of questions and compile info to come to the conclusion.

When at a check up last week I the doctor I was concerned he might have ADD or ADHD and she gave me forms to fill out and forms to send to his teacher. All of those forms have been completed and sent back to his doctor. We have an appointment Monday afternoon to discuss everything. Does the pediatrician diagnose the child or does a specialist?

Sometimes a pediatrician will diagnose it but its better to get a referal to a child psychiatrist. My oldest ds has adhd and we decided to do something about it WITHOUT perscription medications... I have adhd and perscription meds were the worst things that have ever happened to me... We have been able to control ds's adhd with an "acid" we found at a natural health food store. You hear about it all the time but no one really thinks twice about it. Its called DHA and it really does help with my ds. We paid $17.09 before taxes at the health food store... It gave us a 60 day supply and he only takes it once a day. But since we started him on it his grades have improved immensely! Its worth a shot if they tell you your kiddo has adhd/ add. And there's no "crashing" or side effects that you have to worry about. DHA is part of the Omega3 complex found in fish oil. Just a thought. Also, research has proven ( I had a hard time believing this at first) that Mt. Dew has some interesting interactions with adhd. It apparently helps calm the children down and allows them to focus better in school... I haven't tested this theory personally but...
