So my 25 month baby is in the process of being diagnose with autism. The wait is killing me. I wish I could do anything to fix all his problems. Any moms out there that can tell me what their experience with autism has been. And what kind of programs their lo are involved in, and what has been the progress.

wow if you can get a diagnosis that early, it will be great.  Usually all sorts of therapies are involved from behavioral to physical.

When did you notice any signs of this? I'm sorry for what you're going through but there is hope, I wish you and your son the best.

Both of my boys are autistic. They are 6 and 3. My oldest was diagnosed at 2 yrs old and my youngest was diagnosed between 18 months old and 2 yrs old. They both received early intervention which was a huge help for them. At the age of 3, they went into preschool. My oldest just finished kindergarten. He's in a Plc class and will be again next school year. My youngest was in an aba preschool class and will be again next school year. They both receive speech and ot in school. My oldest receives speech out of school. My youngest receives speech and ot out of school. Both in the extended school year. Both see a genetic doc and behavior specialist.  My oldest is good for the most part, but lately has become aggressive. He has trouble talking and other people can't understand him most of the time. My youngest is really the opposite of my oldest. He's considered low functioning. He can't talk and uses 7 signs effectively. He kicks, screams and pushes a lot. But he does have a mellow mood too. He doesn't really understand a lot, but he is getting better. We do a lot of repeating with both boys. Any questions, please ask, I might have left something out I forgot right now...

Thanks for all of your info. I do have a question.. Was your oldest always a bit aggressive?  I know you mentioned he has become aggressive. I ask you this because my 2 yr old is not aggressive at all. Also, what made you seek help? His behavior? If that is the case, how was his behavior? The problem with my son is he doesn't speak more than 5 maybe 8 words. He is not social at all, he gets really shy, and prefers to play alone other than with kids.

My oldest started becoming aggressive about 2-3 weeks ago. I think it has to do with his routine changing, not being in school now, but that's just my guess. My youngest is more mellow than aggressive, like 80 mellow and 20 aggressive. But he doesn't like change at all, which is when he is aggressive...like kicking, screaming and sometimes pushing. Either of my boys talked at all by 12-18 months, no eye contact, very anti social, not pointing, didn't answer to their name, didn't really play with toys or didn't play with them right, banged their heads on things like the couch. With all that, we knew something was not right by 12-18 months.
