what do you consider to be a big baby?

I'm sure everyone's opinion of what a "big" baby is varies.

My son was 7lbs 2oz when he born. In which my SO's family deemed him a big baby. I considered that average seeming how I was pretty darn close to 9lbs.

So now that we have our daughter who is almost 5 months and weighing in at a healthy 16lbs I am curious why they think she's a big baby? My doctor has no concerns and says she is doing Great. Now I know she isn't overweight and I'm not concerned just curious what you all consider to be a big baby at birth And at 4 months.

I'd say anything over 9 lbs. I consider 8lb'ers to still be pretty normal. As for a 4 month old that varies greatly by child.

Anything over 9 lbs. My first was 8 lbs 12 oz and second was 9lbs 9oz. My youngest is 4 months old and 18 lbs and 27.75 in long. Definitely bigger than most babies his age.

Honestly, at birth, I consider 8lbs to be average so anything larger than that is 'big'.  I had a 10lb 11oz baby and he was a BIG BOY!

I'd say over 9 lbs is big for a newborn. DD was 7lb 12 oz and DS was 8lb 10 oz, but they grew so differently in the first four months of life that I have no idea what an "average" baby at that age is.

Anything over 9lbs. I always laugh when people think a 7lb-8lb baby is big. My girls were both over 9lbs.
