Is it a good idea to buy a house in your early 20s?

I'm growing really tired of apartment life. My daughter's more active than ever now and the neighbors are getting really irritated with her. I try to keep her from running and making a lot of noise, and stop her every time as quickly as I can. I can't be everywhere at once and I can't let dinner burn because I need to make her quiet down to avoid upsetting a neighbor, kwim?

Anyway, I'm starting to think about buying a house and then she'd be able to run around in our own yard and not worry about neighbors beneath our feet or anything like that. What do you think? Is it a good idea to buy a house now?

If you can afford it yes.

We lived with my parents for a little while before buying house just because we wanted to avoid apartment living especially with a child.

If you can afford it, sure. Just start small, you don't need to shoot for your dream home.

As long as you can afford it, absolutely.  We bought this house 7 years ago, I was 22.

exactly.  Our house is small, but we could afford it.  Now, we have equity built up in it, so when we are ready for a more permanent home, we will have extra money to put towards it.

I'm 27 and know that my "dream home" has changed several times lol.

If you can afford it, of course! I bought my house 4 years ago. I was 23.

My husband and I purchased our first home when were 21 and 23. It's worked out fine for us. It's more about money and money planning then age, lol.

My husband and I purchased our home when we were almost 23 and 27. I didn't want to throw my money at a rental. It has been such a great investment. Will we stay here forever? No, but it is a nice starter house, and fits us and our son just fine. :) We've been here almost five years.
