Is it stealing?

Grocery shopping earlier today, I saw this lady taking grapes out of different bags and eating them without buying any grapes. My friend who was with me said she's just testing them, but I think it's stealing.

What do you think?

It's stealing. She is taking something that she doesn't own. And grapes are paid by weight, she is making it weigh less by eating them, which means she won't be paying for what she eats.

Wait wait wait. Reread. This lady is standing there and sampling grapes out of the different bags??? That's definitely stealing.

Yes it is stealing. It's not like there was someone standing there with samples. Now when people go to buy them they won't be buying for what they think they are.

Yup that is considered shoplifting.  I had a friend that did that all the time.  I just told her that I didn't have bail money if she got caught.

One or two to make sure they are ripe is fine and I wouldn't think twice about it.  More than that it is stealing.
