Trying to make homemade egg nog HELP!

Hello Ladies!

I am new to the group and I want to introduce myself first.  My name is Angie.  I am from Southern Illinois.  I will be honest......I do not love to cook....shhhhhhhhhhh!!!  Don't tell my mother that!  I made a cake the other day and my daughter told me I must be stoned!  ROFL!

It is not that bad.  Okay, it is.  I CAN cook...I just don't like to cook.  But I need some help.  I was looking up a recipe for homemade egg nog and I know it calls for rum.  I am wanting to make this for Thanksgiving or Christmas for my family and my parents to not drink.  My father would not appreciate the rum in it.  Can anyone tell me how to convert 2-1/2 cups of rum into rum extract?  I am not sure how many tsp or tbsp it would take to get the same flavors?  Any suggestions?

When your mother asks, "Do you want a piece of advice?" it is a mere formality.  It doesn't matter if you answer yes or no, your are going to get it anyway."

The best egg nog I have ever had is made with dairy or eggs; it is made by Silk, and it is fabulous!

You can substitute cow milk and vanilla extract; you may need to add a pinch of sugar:

Instant creamy cold egg nog

Blend together by stirring. Use your blender if you want more of a frozen
drink.

1 part vanilla almond milk or Vanilla Silk Milk

1 part tapioca pudding

1 part ice

Top each glass or cup with a fresh grating of nutmeg.

The tapioca provides the thickness and egginess, the vanilla almond milk
adds nice flavor tones, and ice makes it cold and creamy, and the nutmeg
gives it that eggnogy spice. It is very good with Vanilla Silk Soy milk

That actually sounds good.  I will have to try that.

I found a recipe for homemade egg nog that I want to try.  Most call for rum, but say you can substitute rum extract.  I know the extract is stronger, I just do not know the conversion for it.  There is no way I will come up with 2-1/2 cups of rum extract.  That seems outragous.  I did not know if anyone knows the conversion to substitute the extract for real rum.

The extract is a nasty flavor. You may able to substitute unsweetened white grape juice.
