I swear this is the slowest month.  I am afraid the rest are going to be like it.  This is my first deployment and my husband is supposed to get new orders in 2010 for shore duty.  Will he really get shore duty or can they just put him on another ship that is about to deploy?

I know it is the slowest. I feel February may go by fast cause its our daughters birthday. But we will see. I wish it would be speedy like the last ones. This is also my 1st deployment.

If you dont mind me asking what his job is then I can maybe help you on that question. I know that if he is up for shore duty he should have no problem getting it unless he wants to do Sea to Sea. Mine is up for shore duty in I dont remember but sometime when the ship gets out of the ship yard but he is trying to do sea to sea, cause the ship he wants to wont even hardly be built and be in the process of bringing things onboard for it to run.

The only way is if he is attached to the ship and something happens and they had to leave then he may have to extend. But since it will be in the yards and being refueled that would be kind of hard. So I dont see a problem with him getting shore duty. If he was out to sea they sometimes want them to extend till deployment is over then go to shore duty.

He is a cryptologist.  So, I guess operations/intelligence.  Something like that.  I was able to figure out their next port and I can't believe it.  The ship is supposed to be in the yards for awhile.  Since they are changing yards, does that mean they change orders and may perhaps pay for a move to the other side of the bay?

No orders will still stay the same since their homeport is NOB and they are attached to the TR still. So nothing changes. I doubt they will move you unless you are going into military housing which is a VERY slim chance they will. I tried it was too much of a hassle. I hope that answers y ou question. I am ready for them to be home. I swore I thought it was a few days away frmo February, I am a week ahead of myself. The rest I hope go by fast. This slow stuff is driving me crazy. Maybe once I start my workout again on Monday things will pick up. LOL. I had to stop cause I broke my toe then sprained my groin muscle all with in a month. Toe was before Christmas, the groin was after New Years. He needs to come home soon and fast, LOL, I wasnt as clutzy when he was here. LOL. bouncingSo that is why I couldnt workout. But I hope you all are keeping in there. Are any of you going to the Final Fling?? I am so looking forward to it. Did anyone go to the Halfway Party??

I guess being in Texas makes me kind of isolated.  The parties sound fun.  I am flying my husband here when he returns instead of flying me and the kids there.  Way too expensive.  I could fly to Italy for far less money that it was to fly into Virginia.  Insane.  I keep watching the fare trackers, but I think it would be easier the other way.  He was coming here anyway.

I heard about CHKD's layoffs.  Frightening.  I wonder if they will hire by the time I return.  I worked there in the float pool.
