I'm moving to VA next month. We had housing set up for Virginia Beach, however since the ship will be in Newport News, it's too far to drive so we have to find somewhere else to live. Is Newport News nice to live in or how about Hampton? I think we'll have to live off base but I really don't want to. Any information about that area would be great!

We live in Newport News and we love it. The benefit living out here is you wont have to go through the tunnel to get to the shipyard. The tunnel causes a lot of traffic especially when the base is getting out and rush hour is just starting. If you live on this Hampton/Newport News side it is nice cause their is no tunnel to get to the shipyard that you have to deal with.

Oh good!! I heard traffic was horrible so hopefully it won't be too bad for my hubby in Newport News. We actually got Yorktown housing. Do you live in housing?
