every year we do the walk for the march of dimes, JDRF (juvenile diabetes research fund) and the light the night walk for leukemia. i made this post for all of us to share our fundraising ideas, please add yours or anything you think that could help raise money for a good cause!
thanks!

we order those silicone bracelets that you see everyone wearing. believe it or not even if you ask only a dollar (which is really easy to get from ppl) you can raise money. sometimes we ask for 2 and sometimes ppl just donate 5. for the march of dimes my dad puts up a stand in the entrance of the local supermarket with pictures of my dd when she was born 12 weeks early and now at 6 & 1/2 and asks $2 each. he said some ppl just donate and don't even take a bracelet.
this year we are doing bowling for a cure. at our bowling alley if you have pizza and soda included it costs like $63 per lane. we charge $120 per lane (20-25 per person, depending on how many they want bowling at one time) for 2 hours. the remainder goes towards JDRF.
my older dd is doing a bingo at her house. i'm not sure how she's gonna work it but she has alot of friends.
my older dd also buy candy bars in bulk (not for JDRF of course) and sets up a little cardboard stand that she keeps on her desk at work. this raises alot of money.
this year i am doing to see if my younger dd's school will get involved. all you have to do is have the principal talk to someone from JDRF and they take it from there. if the principal agrees, a spokeperson from JDRF has a short assembly at the school telling the kids about diabetes and good health and they have a fundraiser for 2 weeks. when they collect the money they have a kids walk around the block of the school.
and JDRF will also supply you with those paper sneakers that you see all over the stores. you could go door to door asking for donations and they can put the sneaker in their front window.

If the JDRF had NP status as i'm sure they do, not sure about local chapters or even if there is such a thing, but signing NP's up as beachbody coaches for free and having them sell any of the beachbody workouts programs or products at least promotes healthy living and exercise. There is even a diabetes based workout program beachbody carries called:
Project You Type 2
melissa,
thank you for sharing this.
this is exactly what i was talking about somewhere else, how it seems everything is about type 2 diabetes these days and it that type 1 has been swept under the rug when most ppl with type 2 brought it on themselves with bad eating habits and not exercising.
this looks like a great program for ALL diabetics just to get them moving.
i don't know if JDRF has anything like this, i will have to look into it.

Yeah because the one thing I find silly, is schools talk about promoting health and wellness to their students and then they send home CANDY fundraisers, and I've literally seen candy bars for sale outside of stores for JDRF and other health related causes and it boogles the mind that what they are selling directly goes against said cause.
