Keytones need help

OK so we spent x mas day in the hospital from five am to 2 pm. My daughter was throwing up with large keytones and she needed iv and sonigrams and x rays blood taken alomst cathed. I got her to get up and pee in the cup so they did not ended up cathing her thanks goodness she had a fever of 103 when we first go there. But back to my big problem i am haveing i cant get rid of they keytones. They ar...e still at dark purple on a urine keytone strip. and when we left the hospital they where at a 3 plus. Have not changed sinc then. I called childrens hospital dr satar said follow sick day papers i am like duh i am doing that. Got something else to tell me. But no help there. So i am looking for some help from someone that knows what more i can do for my daughter i am compleately at a loss. Keeping in mind my daughter is five years old.

Is her blood sugars high? If so that's the main reason... also infections cause keytones. The scary thing is that prolonged high blood sugars with infection and high keytones can throw a diabetic into ketoacidoses *sp* . Just keep pushing liquids and keep tight eye on Bs.

thank you so much for you help. It was that she was sick with the flu and a U.T.I. And you are varey rite about the ifections. The infections feed of the sugers in the body and for a diabetic it is even harder to get ride of there sicknesses. We fight this all the time she gets sick a lot more easer than a  healther child. And i dont know if it is becaus eof the diabetes but i asume thats what it is.
