I had gestational diabetes. See if you can go to a Diabetes Nutritionist so they can help you with your diet. You really have to watch your carbs. They can give you a list what to eat and what not to eat and tell you how many carbs you can have for snacks and meals. My body only tolerated 15 carbs in the mornings, 15 carbs for snacks and 30 carbs for meals. If you can find a Diabetic nutritionist in your area it will help you out wonders. Try to get some walking in your day. Eat and then walk if you can. That helped me out alot. Good Luck to you..
Definitely do what SAHM_09 said, I have type 1 so it will be different for you than it was for me. But also when you have an OB appointment, definitely ask whichever doc you have for advice. If it's your OB, she can make decisions too, it doesn't have to be your diabetes doc. My OB made all kinds of crappy decisions without consulting my other doc.
Also some ideas for snacks that shouldn't affect your blood sugar: cheese, meat, and dill pickles. I say shouldn't because they don't have any carbs but again not entirely sure how a diet for gest diabetes works. Good luck!

Those are EXACTLY the snacks I had when I was pregnant! LOL Drove my DH nuts with dill pickles and cheddar cheese snacks in the middle of the night. Hard boiled eggs or cottage cheese are other things that won't affect blood sugars too much.
I've had GD 4 times out of 5 pregnancies. Carb counting and regular blood testing with a monitor is sooooo important!!!!
As for your dizziness, are you getting enough protein, enough water every day? I would also test your blood sugar when you feel dizzy to see if it's too high or too low and adjust diet accordingly if necessary. If you're taking too much short-acting insulin, then your blood sugars may fall too low and you'll need to either adjust the insulin dose down (consult with your doctor) or eat a few more carbs. The dizziness may also be just a part of your pregnancy at this point. My DIL got dizzy if she wasn't drinking enough.
Good luck!

I had gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy. I saw a dietician and she helped me sort out the whole diet thing. When I was super hungry, she told me to eat more proteins rather than carbs because that took the longest to break down into sugar. I lived off cashews when I snacked and took extra portions of meat and veggies when I was still hungry at meals. I didn't need insilin though. Good luck to you.
Ask for a referral to a dietician familiar wih gestational diabetes. Go for meats and vegetables over fruits and breads--this will help keep your blood sugar steady and keep you from getting hungry too quickly. Add some healthy fats to your diet--avocado and coconut oil are good, and real butter. Hope this helps!
