Hi,
I have been looking into homeschooling our kids - ages 8(almost 9), 7(almost 8) and 2 yrs. The main obstacle with the older girls is their biodad - he's not too keen on it, but we have not discussed it at length yet. I am still gathering information on it and how to go about it. The girls are currently in public school and will finish out the year there, but I would like to start the next school year with a home curriculum.
My main reason for turning to homeschooling is just that I don't approve of the way things are run in public school, and I feel that our own values are being stomped all over. I also think they will just get more out of an educational experience when their teachers are their parents. I have been a WAHM for almost 2 years now, and am now ready to take on the task of homeschooling my children as well. I am really looking forward to this opportunity with them.
What made others here choose homeschooling rather than public school?

Hey Heather- I could go on and on about why we homeschool as we seem to have about a million reasons. I took my oldest (now 9) out of public Kindergarten when she had 3 weeks left of the school year. So of course, although this is obviously your decision, I say "Why wait until next year?" It's not like it's going to get any better for you or them between then and now and you certainly would NOT be the first or last mama to do that. Don't be afraid to take back your kids. Our lives since beginning this journey have been something I never thought possible in this culture. I watch my children develop into the directions that they want to go in and not the way all the kids in their class think they should be. I'm so glad we pulled her out when we did. We've never had any regrets about that.
