using a 'better homes and gardens' cookbook publishedoriginally in '30 (then '63 and '81) i attempted to make begals. i followed the directions as best as i could. i took 'em out of the oven and they ended up with 'grand canyons' on each of them. and they weren't uniform in size or shape. and the sockets in the kitchen, at least by the sink where i was working, stopped freaking working while i was mixing it (on low might i add). so, i just mixed it by hand
then, after re-baking the last three (they didn't look done) a few more minutes, but i had jeff dunham on and kinda forgot about them, but they're still a tad doughy in spots. good thing the recipe i used didn't make them with eggs.
anyone know why i had to broil and boil them before sticking them in the oven? 'cos that's what i had to do.
they turned out pretty tasty though.
