I recently found a natural way to help cut my daughters head drop seizures by over 75% She used to have 15 to 20 throughout theday and now its 2 to 5. I give her valerian root extract.  The dosage will be varied but fyi she is 10 years old and about 90 lbs and I give her about 10 drops in the morning and about 7 drops around 6 hours later.  And that's it.

That is so cool!! My son had constant head drop seizures, and was on valerian root for his behavior, but it didn't help the seizures.

That's great that it helped you so much!

I am sorry to hear that , how long did you give it???   It took about 3 weeks before I saw any change, then another 3 weeks before about 25% less, then a couple more weeks and so on until  they were almost gone...and now, she has been head drop free 2 weeks straight.  I started her on it the last week of december last year.

That is so so cool!! Elijah was on it for about a year. But luckily he has been seizure-free, of all types, since his last brain surgeries! We still use the valerian root sometimes for his anxiety. It's great stuff!!

Wow, sounds like you have been through the ringer...last brain surgery...yikes.. I can't imagine but am glad all is well now with no seizures!!     Funny enough, my daughter still has anxiety issues that the Valerian doesn' t  touch....She has been having deep breathing issues to wear she will fall over... Anything excites her good or bad, a cool balloon or someone new coming to the door.  This has been going on for about 3 years.  Her school has a procedure to lay her on her side until she snaps out of it, which usually takes a few minutes.  However, she does not talk ( know about 40 signs)and although she is 10 , she is like a toddler in her actions.  A doctor suggested anti depressants to calm her, but she is so happy, I cant justify that....She was diagnosed with gdd, nothing imparticular.

Well that stinks!! I guess it's either one or the other. lol, it fixes anxiety or it fixes seizures, not both.

Cranial Sacreal therapy reall yhelped Elijah's anxiety too. If you have any good naturopaths near you, maybe your daughter would benefit as well?

Yeah, my son has been through it. He was having a couple hundred seizures a day on and off since he was 15mos old. He was like that for two years before his 3rd and 4th brain surgeries last January. It's SO SO amazing to have him back! This is the absolute longest the seizures have ever stayed away. He is also very much like a toddler, but he did start to talk some after his first brain surgery when he was 4. (he's almost 9 now) :)

Does your daughter have a website?

Elijah's is

cool website... i cant even copy and paste so I won't be doing that anytime soon....I was glad to hear that Elijah laughs every day...so does my daughter (Tess) and that is PRICELESS.. I know she is teaching her 4 brothers patience, kindness and humility and that is not a bad thing.....By the way, her grandfather is a massage specialist and also does cranial scareal on her about 2 times a month...should be more.... am glad you mentioned that......Take Care.

an update....my daughter was head drop seizure free for about 6 months and then last week she had a few mild head drops..i assume she is getting immune to the valerian root.  just an fyi.  now we are on to the next task of figuring out what to put her on to get the valerian root out of her system for a while so we can get her back on it..maybe for another 6 months at a time.

We are now trying chamomile tea and rescue remedy while we reduce her valerian and  would like to see fair results.  Thanks for checking in.  Hope all is well. :)
