HELLO ladies!

My friend is planing my shower and says i need to get my registry ready...

I'm working with Babies R Us because its everywhere and you can not only shop online but in the store. (making it easy for my older family who isn't computer ready)

SO i'm looking at some of the things they recammend and wondering if there really worth making the list... Please give me your feed back... Did you buy them, did you like them, is it really "must have"

For example :

Baby wipe warmer?

Humidifier (war AND cold air)?

I registered at Target and Babies R Us.  Half the things on Babies R Us' suggested registry list you do not need.  Wipes warmer, waste of money.  Humidifier is not really something you need to buy either.  While that can be helpful should your baby have a cold, it's not a necessity.  I do not have one and have never used one.  Babies R Us just wants you to buy their products.

I'll try to give a list of things I actually use but it's not inclusive since I'm sure I'll forget something.

Travel system (car seat plus stroller); I highly recommend Graco

Pack N' Play with bassinet feature (great for the first few months of rooming in with baby); again love my Graco

Crib with mattress

Waterproof mattress pad plus fitted crib sheets.  I have 2 pads and 3 sheets and that's been plenty for me.

Crib mobile or some type of crib soother.

Baby monitor (depending on the layout of your home).  I didn't use mine that much because I could hear him pretty easily.

Diaper Genie (some people think they are a waste of money; my son is almost 2 and I still use it).

Baby bathtub

Washcloths/hooded towels

Baby body wash/shampoo; baby lotion; diaper rash cream (love Desitin!)

Cotton balls (for cleaning around the eyes, ears, and cord stump)

Bibs and burp cloths (lots!)

Onesies (for a winter baby you really don't need that many)

Sleep n' plays (lots!)

Receiving blankets

If breastfeeding, boppy pillow, lanolin, breast pads;  bottles if pumping and breast milk storage bags.  If formula feeding, bottles.  Some babies are picky about bottles though.

Pacifiers if you intend on using them.

Play mat (I love my Fisher Price rainforest playmat)

Swing (total lifesaver!)

Diapers diapers diapers and wipes

Baby socks and hats

Thermometer, aspirator, nail clippers, etc.  (my hospital gave me a thermometer and aspirator); Red Cross makes a really good health kit that has all of that stuff included

For a winter baby--warm blankets, a bundle suit if really cold where you live

Diaper bag

As my son got older I loved the Bumbo seat and Exersaucer.

Things you don't need:

I know people like the crib bedding sets, but those pillow bumpers are a SIDS risk and it's recommended you not use them.  Same with quilts, comforters, and blankets.  So really all you need is a fitted sheet on the mattress.

I found the swaddle blankets to be a waste.  They don't really work well.  Receiving blankets worked better for us.

Hope that helps!

Skip the baby wipe warmer.

Get a vaporizer or the humidifier with warm air. The best for colds!
