I just joined this group, my name is Ashley. I'm expecting my first baby, which is a girl March 29, 2011. I have been sick throughout my whole pregnancy from passing out to being dehydrated alot.

So I was told last wk my amniotic fluid was low (at 7) after they performed an ultrasound at my dr. A few days later  thought I was leaking fluid. Called my dr & he told me to go to l&d for them to check me & also give me IV fluids. So I went and they said it was not my fluid leaking and gave me a bag of IV fluids & sent me home. Said I was not dilated but 50% effaced. Went to the dr today for next appt and ultrasound and he said my fluid level was even worse (at 6). Wants me to come in next week twice for ultrasounds and to see him. Said if it does not get any better I will prob have to be induced. I'm scared, what am I doing wrong? I'm drinking all I can. I'm scared about being induced too due to a lot having to have c sections after all that induction & hard work!

if it were a hydration issue most doctors would admit you to administer fluids and put you on drugs to keep you from being sick.  sometimes people just have low fluid.  my sister was induced for the same reason.  i was induced for different reasons.  neither of us had a cesearian.  we both though did discuss with our doctors and made it clear that we would only consent if it were a life threatening situation.  talk to you doctor.  inductions are definately harder than natural labor but they can be and often are successful.

I have had to go in for IV fluids probably 5 times throughtout my pregnancy. Gotta go for another ultrasound today to check fluid levels again. How far along was ur sister & how low was her amniotic fluid?
