FACE THE WORLD by Hosting An Exchange Student!

Hello, my name is Malinda Olhoft, and my title is as Community Representative and Regional Manager for FACE THE WORLD, a non-profit exchange program. Hosting is truly a rewarding experience and contributes so much to our schools and community too. Our students are anxiously awaiting families like yours. They come from over 35 countries, in most of Europe, East Asia, and South America. The students are 15-18 years old, speak English, have their own spending money and insurance, and attend a local high school for a semester or an academic year. They would stay and go to school here for 5 to 10 month stays.

Please discuss this with your family!!!   Volunteer Host Families like you can be married or single, with or without children, anyone over 25 years old who can provide meals and a private or shared room for a students.  I would love to here from you! I have attached a list of Most commonly Asked Host family Questions that might help answer questions you might have, and the Process to be a Host Family.  Let me know if you have others too. For many families across the country, hosting an international exchange student has been a way to experience the world without ever leaving home.  This cultural exchange is rewarding for both the students and the host families who host them. Past host families have described their students as "part of the family," and have formed relationships that last a lifetime.

"You don't need a big fancy home to host an exchange student," said past and current host parent, retired teacher, Lee Paulson of Glenwood, "all these kids want is to experience life in America, learn English, and for you to love them as one of your own." Feel free to call him and ask him about his experiences hosting this past year at 320-634-3861.

To learn how to make one of these international students part of your family, please check out our web site for available students at www.facetheworld.org or call Malinda Olhoft Toll Free at 1-888-389-1114 or email me at mmolhoft@runestone.net or on cell phone at 320-304-1655. Our students are anxiously awaiting host families, and would look forward to living with a real American family- like yours! If you would like to see more information please let me know and I would be happy to email it to you or set up a time for us to get together and answer any questions you might have. Thanks.
