Hello all,
I wanted to share with you some excellent online resources: most of them apply to authors in general, but some are specific to Children's Authors.

First the MUST-visits:

SCBWI:  www.scbwi.org

The Childen's Book Council www.cbcbooks.org

And some other good ones:

Editorial Anonymous: this is the blog of a children's book editor in new york. (I gather she's at one of the large houses, and she REALLY knows her stuff)  She's great and can be very entertaining:
http://editorialanonymous.blogspot.com/

She has links to the following (check them all out).  Especially for any of you who are wondering about self-publishing, there is must-read information here:
http://www.sfwa.org/beware/

and

http://anotherealm.com/prededitors/

Another blogger, she's at a literary agency:

And of course, no on-line tour is complete without a visit to (our fellow Kids' Writers group member) Dr Virginia Lowe's website:
www.writeakidsbook.com

Have fun and stay safe out there!

In addition, last year, I joined JacketFlap http://www.jacketflap.com/ which is a social networking community where you can connect with more than 2,000 published authors and illustrators of books for Children and Young Adults. I highly suggest at least taking a peak over there. I've "met" some really nice and helpful folks there.

I am in the process of looking for an agent and sending out query letters, and I came across www.querytracker.net. Everything there I need to find appropriate agents, and keep track of who I have sent to, who has replied, etc. Takes a few minutes to find your way around, but it is easier than setting up my own data base.

This site was recommended to me during a writers course, it's worth checking out.
