Can a Chiropractor Help With Bedwetting?

i am in a group on this site regarding older children that still wet the bed every night.   One of the mothers has stated that she took her 9 year old to a Chiropractor and it worked.    Just curious if you think it was a coincidence or if it could work.  I have a 6 1/2 yr old that still wets every night and Chiropractic is the one thing I never considered for this issue.

Absolutely! I just wanted to reply first as we've helped many kids in our office with bedwetting, but I will have my husband get back to you with a more informative response as to how exactly it works ok. I just saw your post, but please check back for his reply this week.

Thanks.

Rachel

Chiropractic gets great results with bedwetting. Obviously the sooner you can address it the better. I have 40-50 year old patients that have problems with urination frequency and they get better with the chiropractic adjustments but by this point it is a long standing chronic problem. I have children that get better with 1-3 adjustments depending on the condition of the spine of course.

The mechanism by which chiropractic helps is:
The nerves in the "tailbone" are responsible for relaxation of the bladder. If there is pressure on those nerves the bladder isn't able to relax and is constantly contracted. Release the pressure from the nerve, the bladder is able to relax and hold more volume of urine.

I recommend finding a gonstead doctor in your area at.

Thanks very much!!  We don't appear to have gonstead doctors in our area, but I am going to talk with my husbands chiropractor.  He sees a lot of children so my guess is he could be helpful.  Thanks sooo much!
