                 Commonly Used Abbreviations

O = Ovulation
CD= "Cycle Day"  This is the day from the first day of your last menstrual period. ( If you started your period on February 3rd, and it is February 20th you are on CD 17) LMP = First day of your Last Menstrual Period (your last period)
AF= Aunt flow (your period)
HPT = Home Pregnancy Test
CM = Cervical Mucous (when you ovulate, your cervical mucous becomes clear; like egg whites, sticky, and stringy.  Some women check their cervical mucous to determine when they are ovulating)
BBT = Basal Body Temperature (a method used to track ovulation)
hCG = Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (the hormone that is released in pregnancy)  This is what pregnancy tests detect.  There is a "blood pregnancy test" called a Beta hCG.  This can be a quantitative hCG or a qualitative hCG.  A quantitative hCG gives you a number value, greater than 5 is considered positive for pregnancy.  A qualitative hCG gives you a "negative or positive" result, and is not ordered very often.  Home pregnancy tests can detect hCG levels at about 25-50 (depending on the brand).  This is why "blood pregnancy tests" can detect a pregnancy earlier than a home pregnancy test.

DD = Dear Daughter
DS = Dear son
