As summer approaches, you must be very aware of the dangers to you and your baby when the heat is on! You should be drinking lots of water (1-2 glasses per hour while awake) and even more if you are going to be active or outside. If the heat is intense, you should avoid being outside. If you become dehydrated or get a heatstroke, you are at risk for preterm labor. This is so simple to avoid if you just drink and stay cool!
If you don't have A/C, get a good fan and a spray mister of cool water. Or jump in the shower with cool or tepid water. Head to the mall and stroll around or just sit on a bench and people watch. Whatever you have to do to stay cool and hydrated.
Wishing you all a happy, healthy Summer!

Yes....never be 8 months pregnant (I'm 30 weeks) and in this heat. It is horrible! I was so hot during my last pregnancy and she was due in May. This baby is due in October and I am miserable. Not to mention, we just rented a house and it there is no insulation, so from 3 to about 7 it stays at 85 degrees in the house. I just found out i have low amniotic fluid, so I have been drinking a lot of water and I try to go to an indoor place (other than my house) during the hot time. I picked a great time to be pregnant, move to a house with no insulation in a city (Dallas) with record breaking heat. Sorry...just had to vent. I think my hot flashes are getting to me!
If I get my BFP tomorrow I will be very pregnant in summer and live in Phoenix Arizona where 114 degrees isnt un common late summer time.
I plan to be inside with my A/C and water as much as I can!

TTC Baby #3 after a Loss
Ok ladies, I had two babies July 16th (6 years apart) and one Aug, 7th and another Aug. 17th. I know the heat and being pregnant very well. So here are some tips for you. I done all 4 of these with no a/c and one living in a trailer.
Always have a light towel, tea towel, reciving blanket what ever with you. Get it wet and put it around your neck and wipe your face, breast what ever with it. This will cool you down VERY well and fast.
- Try to find cheap cotton dresses, they look terrible but are so comfortable and they allow what little brease there is to go thru them.
- Keep the fan on you at all times when possible and put a smaller fan in your car so that if your at a friends or family and you get hot you will have your own fan to plug in. I can't tell you how many times I was glad I come up with this one.
- Also if you have a baby out in the heat wet down a receiving blanket to put under and over them while they are out in the heat.
- And of course just like everyone elce has said drink drink drink......
Hope these tips help you, they made a big difference for me.
Michelle
