I'm 31 weeks pregnant and I want to keep working up to maybe 2 weeks before my due date. My supervisor at work asked me what date I'll be working till and for me to let them know. How do you give them a date for that? I'm pretty active so I'm afraid contractions could start earlier than that. I would just rather work as long as I can and have more time off when I have the baby. Any suggestions?

  • Do you have to give an exact date?  This is my 3rd pregnancy and I have always worked up to the end (literally the day I delivered my 1st - he was one week early; and a few days before I went into the hospital for my 2nd - he was over two weeks early).  I am now almost 26 weeks along and my supervisor is okay with me working "till the end" so that I can have 3 months after the baby is born.  I too am very active at my job (I work with kids with special needs ages 0-5 yrs).

  •  I dunno, seems that way, doesn't make much sense to me. Can't really give a date for this sorta thing specially if u wanna keep working till you can't no more. maybe they are just concerned for scheduling purposes. i was thinking 2 weeks before my due date but i dont wanna sit around at home for that long if she actually comes on time, I'll just be bored and probably feel more miserable cuz I won't be as active.

  • Can you explain that to your supervisor?  Your due date is only an estimate so you really don't know (unless you have a scheduled c-section or induction) the date you will deliver.  With my first my water broke out of no where 3wks early.  Then there are those who deliver up to 2wks late.  Hopefully your supervisor will be flexible with your date!!!  Good luck!!!

  • WITH MY DD I HAD A C-SECTION AND I WORK TILL 2 DAYS BEFORE SHE WAS BORN.. THIS BABY I HAVE TO HAVE A C-SECTION AGAIN AND I BLAN ON DOING THE SAME THING... YOUR BOSS SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT YOU CANT JUST PUT A DATE ON THAT KINDA OF THING... I WOULD GO CRAZY ALSO IF I HAD TO SITT AT HOME FOR 2 WEEKS AND NOTHING HAPPENDS... I FEEL FOR YOU.. I WOULD JUST TRY AND EXPLAIN THAT YOU JUST CANT PUT A DATE ON THAT THING THE BABY PICKS THE DATE...WELL I HOPE IT GOES OK..
