Vacation ideas with a 17-year-old son?

Hi,

I'm a single mom with one son, now 17. He says he doesn't want to go on any trips with me this summer, just wants to hang out with friends. But I want to take at least a short trip with him because this is the last summer before he graduates. Any ideas? I think that he'll enjoy it and remember it if I can think of the right kind of trip. We live in Utah. He's not into sports or outdoor adventures but loves playing his guitar and likes art museums. Last year we went to the Denver museum of art for the Tut exhibit, and that was fun. Other ideas?

I like the idea of weekend and day trips. It is easier to get them to commit. Explore what is within a 100 miles of you. If that doesn't work, Chicago is awesome in summer.

My daughter and I visited the Carlsbad Caves and Gila Cliff Dwellings in New Mexico.  I don't know what if anything like this might be in your area, but these were awesome sights.
