I'd like to know if any one else beside myself been laid off. It's been two months since I've been laid off and no company has responded to my applications to open position. I know everyone who'd laid off is also looking so jobs are hard to get.  On top of being laid off I just heard my car repairs is going to cost me a whole lot of money which I don't have. Ugh its tough but I'm staying positive that there is hope for me.

  • I've been lucky to have my job for 1 1/2 years now.  But I was laid off from my last job.  I literally threw myself into looking for a new job, spending most of the day searching online, filling out apps, faxing, mailing.  It took me 3 months to find the job I have now.  But that was then.

I believe that there is a job out there for you!  Keep in mind that there ARE lots of people looking so the employers have tons of apps to go thru.  A friend of mine started applying about 3 months ago and she is just now starting to get responses.  So don't give up hope.......unfortunately it's just a slow process.

  • I am sure things will work out. Keep a positive outlook and things will eventually turn around for you. Hang in there! And when the great job comes around let us all know!

  • Thank you for both for your responses. I appreciate the good encouragements. Yes, I do believe HR's are overwhelmed with so many applications/resume to review. I am taking this time off to be productive for my future job. I am able to attend Toastmasters now to improve on my communication skills. Also reading books from Life coaches for guidance in career assessment.God has a job out there for me. I will be patience and enjoy my time off to refresh my mind mentally and physically.

Thanks again. Have a great week

  • Suzy, I am going through the same thing, I have been out of work now for 5 months and have been faxing, mailing, emailing, and nothing.  It is terrible frustrating, stressful.  I've actually lost 2 jobs in 2 yrs. now.  If you ever want to talk, drop me a line here.  Sandy

  • Have you considered supplementing your income part-time while looking for full-time employment? If your interested in what I've done, please let me know and I would be glad to help you out.
