1. Buy a 3" binder, dividers, sheet protectors and at least 3 pencil pockets.

2. Buy a receipt holder (like the small accordion files)

3. Get a small accordion file for your car (this will hold color swatches, paper for ideas, etc)

4. Buy some magazines. Start off with a couple thick ones, and you should do fine for now.

5. Print off a wedding checklist

6. Create a list of things that are most important to you, and to your fiance

7. Decide on your budget and date

8. Visit sites like:
http://www.weddingchannel.com, http://www.theknot.com, http://www.blissweddings.com/ There are a ton more if you get bored with those!

If you want help with what to label your dividers and the tabs in your accordions, let me know. Always happy to help.

These ideas really work well.
In addition to that, I would reccommend browsing through wedding stories and or pictures you find in magazines and online. A lot of what I'm doing for mine has been adapted from what I've seen.  Also, carry around a small notebook to jot down ideas as they come up.
I use EZWeddingplanner.com. It keeps track of my progress, budget, and timeline, and even sends me email reminders when something needs to be done. It also has a guestlist form, to store everyone's addresses.
