I started giving Justin sippy cups most of the day and at night he got the bottle. Once he got used to the sippy cups I just put all the bottles in a box and completely took them away. He never cried for a bottle or anything.

Idk. I got lucky with mine. When he started getting teeth he decided he didn't like the pacifier. It must have been uncomfortable. Good luck with that!

For the pacifier your best bet is to do the same with a bottle just cut back first on how much your kid has it then eventually just take it away all together.

by rativs on Jul. 22, 2008 at 10:39 AMMy son's favorite sippy cup is a bottle with a straw. That could work for you. |

by Mdaisey on Jul. 22, 2008 at 10:59 AMSeems like we are going backwards in this house. My son use to love his sippy cups, and now, he wants the bottle. So, I will only give him milk in the bottle, and juice in the sippy cup. |

by Katell on Jul. 22, 2008 at 2:31 PMI had a problem with my little one, and finally got her to use Nuby soft tip sippy cup. It worked. Now I finally got her to use a regular hard tip sippy cup. |

by Trixie_Mom on Jul. 22, 2008 at 4:53 PMWe are down to a bottle before bed and sometimes if she has not eaten well that day she may wake up and take another bottle, but not often. B/c she never took more than 6 oz at a time from a bottle anyway i just kept decreasing the amount I put in it and eventually quit offering bottles during the day all together. I still offer the one at bedtime b/c I still believe she needs that comfort item and her Binky. i am not going to get to terribly upset if she is 2 and still doing this. In her own time she will grow dependent on other things and the binky and bottle will fall by the way side. She drinks her juice and water from Gerber soft spout transition cup with adjustable handles. She prefers the handles to hold on to the cold sippy cup. My other two kids gave their bottle away... one to the Easter Bunny (her bday was Easter time and she was2) and my sone when he was 2 gave his to the Halloween Monsters babies. :) When Megan is 2 she can giver hers to cupid :) |
