Is the produce at the Farmer's market better than at the store?
Why or why not?

I think it is definately better for several reasons the prices are better the produce is larger and not as damaged as what i find in local stores. I also know exactly where it came from which is a huge thing for me.
the first thing i look for is crookneck squash i love it and i can get some of the larger ones for great prices (normally 3 for 1.00)
I prefer the prices at the market versus the store they seem more resonable and to me I am helping keep the farming community thriving locally by buying at the market instead of at walmart.

I love the variety at a farmers market, and the fact that the vegetables/produce ARE from the garden, REALLY! instead of picked before ripe, then gassed, and shipped over on some truck whose driver really doesn't give a darn about the load.
Freshness, taste, and as far as prices go, I haven't always found the prices to be dramatically lower, but just a bit lower. But, then, I'd pay MORE for fresher!
And, you can get vegetables that aren't always at the grocery store...or if they are, they're grossly overpriced.

Yes, definately. I set up at the local Farmer's Market and I get the freshest in season produce. One of the perks! The prices are always cheaper than the grocery, better flavor and most of it is organically grown. You know where it is coming from, you often can negotiate the price and you can place orders for the next week if you want something in particular. Although, the downside is spending more while I am there, than I make! LOL
Our county commisioner started a program for fresh produce coupons for senior citizens.. ( The coupons are offered for free to seniors in our county). Vendors receive payment from commisioners. Bonus for seniors, they get the chance to get out, have the opportunity to get fresh garden produce & fruit for healthy eating at no cost.

yep. I'd take produce from a Farmers Market over the grocery store anytime. Reasons? as above ... ditto, ditto, ditto!
