Pregnancy
With my first baby I wanted to go all natural if possible.. I was fortunate to have a very quick and steady progressing labor I did not recieve or ask for anything during my labor but at 8cm a nurse came in and said " Im just going to give you a shot of stadol now it should take the edge off" and while breathing through a contraction I agreed with out thinking about it.. Later I thought how strange I didnt even ask for that and probably wouldnt have. The stadol changed my steady every 2 min contraction down to ever five min. I only pushed about 6-7 times but pushed for like 45 min.. because I had to wait in between for contraction.. Do you think it was because of the stadol my contractions slowed? How much pain relief do you think it gave? I just remember feeling loopy from it for about 30 min and no change in my contraction pain... but then again maybe it did ease the pain of pushing and it would have been much more painful had I not gotten that stadol... Did any of you have stadol... how was it for you?

by CaiNy5 on Oct. 6, 2008 at 5:57 PMI agreed to stadol halfway during labor with my first, and it made me feel loopy too. Everything was in slow motion, and when people would talk to me, it seriously sounded like the adults from the Peanuts cartoons. After like 2 hours on stadol, I had to ask them to take me off of it. |

by proud_mommy_87 on Oct. 6, 2008 at 6:09 PMI don't actually know what they gave me, but I was in heavy labor for my dd, my blood pressure was super-high, and the contractions were basically back-to-back and really long. They gave me something that made my contractions stop altogether for a whole hour! They had to give me pitocin to get them going again, and it took forever to work back up to the same kinds of contractions that I had before that stupid med! I would have had my dd in no time if not for the stupid drugs! Instead, I ended up with a 13 hour labor. |

by proud_mommy_87 on Oct. 6, 2008 at 6:11 PMThey also put in an epidural and gave me Demerol or something too, so I was like completely high for the rest of the labor and never felt anymore pain at all...LOL. |

by kissmiss213 on Oct. 6, 2008 at 6:41 PMwith my first dh and mil talked me into having stadol. i had been progressing steadily and as soon as i got the stadol i stopped. i was stuck at a 7 for 2 hours. my dr actually told me that if i didnt start progressing again in an hour that i would have a csection (i was induced). i broke down then and said give me an epi then, and within an hour i was at a 10. i now have the rule...NO STADOL! it did the same thing to my sister as well. |

by faithhopelove55 on Oct. 6, 2008 at 6:49 PMi think that is what they gave me but it really isnt considered a pain reliever it just kinda takes the edge off so you can relax..it sure as hell didnt slow me down haha..it was my first baby and i went from a 4-10 in 30 mins needless to say i went to fast to get an epidural..i hated the stadol if that is waht i got because it just made me drowsy and didnt take the edge off..just made me not be able to concentrate as well...so you could still say you went all natural because you still did it without any pain meds.. TEchnically it is a pain med but not really if you get what i am saying..I hated it.. |

by erin1980 on Oct. 6, 2008 at 6:50 PMI had it with my first. I won't do it again. I'll go straight for the epidural. I was out of it for a couple of hours (it seemed like about 15 minutes to me). When I came out of it, I wanted to push but couldn't because I wasn't dilated all the way. Two hours after that they finally let me push and I had him in three pushes. That was about a million times worse than I felt when they gave me the stupid drugs. With my second, I had an epidural and it was the best! I was actually able to relax and enjoy having her. ![]() |

by purpleducky on Oct. 6, 2008 at 7:13 PMI had it and will take it again if I need something. I got 2 rounds of it since you can get 1 shot every 60 minutes. The first one made me sleep for an hour. The second one took the edge off so that I could concentrate on pushing when I felt a contraction. However, I was severely out of it, the room was moving but everyone was still like on That 70s Show and was saying things I don't remember.
