First time soon-to-be mom here and I have a question about diapers. I have always heard about how expensive diapers are but I am just now starting to realize what all the fuss is about. I have compared diaper prices and have found that Target brand are really cheap. I did a little research and it seems that most moms actually really like them. Anybody have any input?
Also, how long did you use newborn diapers? My DH was 9lbs when he was born and we were both pretty long and I just don't want to stock up on too many of the wrong size. They look soooo tiny!
They re-did them a few months ago and now I really like them. They are very good quality compared to most store brands. I also get $1 off coupons in the mail and on my reciept every so often and that is a nice plus :)

There is no Target around here, but I have tried Wal-mart brand diapers for the first couple months, because you change them so frequently I really think it is a waste to buy more pricey ones. But with my daughter those irritated her so i had to buy better ones..but I've found Luv's are the next best thing to pampers..they don't leak and they're pretty cheap..plus you can always find coupons for them. And with both children I only bought 1 or 2 jumbo packs of newborn, they grow into the size 1s so quickly and stay there for awhile.
With my first I started out with the pampers swaddlers (the ones with the dip by the belly button for the cord) and then tried other types the older she got. I used the parent choice diapers alot and huggies. We couldn't use Luvs due to the perfume that was in them. I say buy at least one pack of those and if they work great for you, continue to buy them. As for us we tried every type of diaper out there and the cheapest ones are the ones that worked the best before she started walking and crawling then after the huggies worked best.
First pack of diapers no matter the brand make sure they have the dip in the front to allow the umbilical cord to breath and not be irritated by being rubbed. Thats the only reason we started with swaddlers.
Thanks ladies! I actually already have like 140 newborn diapers (the ones with umbilical cord swoop). I'm thinking that should be enough so I guess I will see. I will be purchasing Target diapers now. They are really cute with the polka dots!
I love Target diapers better than any other brand, also Kroger brand diapers are surprisingly nice. I haven't used the newborns of either of these yet. I don't know if maybe they will be too rough for baby's skin. I used newborn diapers with my son for about a month and he was 7lbs 11oz. :)
if I were you i would only buy 1 or maybe even 2 newborn packages of diapers but DON'T open both of them because you can return the unused package or trade it for a different size. But i perfer Huggies over anything but everyone has their own preference.

Im a proud 18 year old mommy to my beautiful 2 year old Alaina Marie
My daughter is severly allergic to LUVS.

Well an earlier poster stated that they changed a few months ago and I hope to God they did, lol. I HATE Target diapers at least the original ones. I bought them with my daughter and that was about a year ago and they leaked horribly. I have four kids and out of all the different types of diapers we have used I hated Target the most and my favorite is Luvs which is still very affordable and they work well at least they did for me.
